Keep Your Blog Fun
About a week or so ago, I read a blog by Nicole Cooper. In that blog, she really expressed how she was trying to keep her blog niche-specific, but it was not working for her. She went on to say that she would continue with her niche-related content, but would also be sharing other content as well. Why? Because there’s more to her than being a businesswoman. Truth is, there is more to all of us than just business, and the world needs to know that! What I want to share with you is some tips on how you can share more than ‘just business’, maintain authenticity, and build a relationship with your audience.
Write about experiences in your life
Don’t underestimate the value in sharing your life experiences. Sharing how you dealt with a difficult customer service person or how you responded to a question can bring more value than you know. Did you have a bad plumber experience? Do you have the most intrusive neighbor ever? Maybe you’re a new at-home dad, and had to comb your daughter’s hair for the first time. Someone is out there wondering how to deal with the same things. Stop doing the stinkin’ thinkin’ and just share!Share your interests on your blog
Besides being an entrepreneur, what do you like to do? Are you an avid skier? Perhaps you’re a bangin’ cook. You might even collect ceramic frogs. Whatever your interests are outside of business, share them. This allows you to relate to your audience on levels other than business. Sharing your interests opens you up to your audience, and they become more receptive to you. They see you more as a real person, than just a website on the screen!Share events
This does not stop with sharing business events, but other events as well. Share pictures from your most recent vacation. Talk about how your sister just had a new baby. You can blog about your life events without sharing too many private details. By sharing your life events, you are showing your audience that you are living the life you are offering them. Don’t be a slave to the life you’re selling to others.EN Team AIG Daily Assignment 12-25-12
